Photography for me
I have been doing photography for a couple of years now. My first Camera was a Canon 450d, so based on the equipment I'm purely the digital photographer, never done hard film. I'm what you can refer to me as an amateur photography or possibly an enthusiast. I've never studied it, so it's self learnt (the internet is a wonderful place for self study).
I love photography not because of the equipment, although I'm familiar with the technology, I don't focus all my attention on the equipment, I'm more interested in the subject. You might notice that my photographs aren't always perfect. I like to concentrate on the people, places and objects around me. I'm also not a huge post-photography-editting guy, I do the occasional enhancing, but it is very rare you will find me sitting behind a computer editing a photo for hours. Although I do want to get better and I'm learning all along the way.
In 2012 I started a personal project named "Project 52 Weeks", the objective for my viewers is to see the world I see, or at least the brief moments I get on camera. The project for me is a motivator for me to get out there to see more and learn more. This exercise will encourage me to get more exposure to world around me and give me the opportunity to perfect the art of photography.
You can find the links to the blog / site for the project on this site. But for your convenience here it is again http://re-blended.blogspot.com
More about me (not photography wise)
I was born in 1978 which makes me 34 years old now. I live in South Africa and have a full time job at a bank as an information specialist. I won't tell you more about my job, because that would be boring. My mother stays with me, why? Well because I love my mother and it's the duty of us children to care for the ones we love. She's good company too.
I'm currently a single guy with no kids, don't get me wrong I have been in some serious relationships but nothing that turned permanent. I'm not against marriage and would love to have children of my own, but the circumstances need to be right.
I grew up in South Africa and love my country, regardless of its flaws (by the way, the flaws aren't as bad as you think). I had good parents, of which I have one good parent left. I have two brothers, the oldest who lives in Canada, with three children and married (also an excellent photographer). My other brother, still older than me, lives in Johannesburg with one kid but not married anymore.
I have good friends, I don't have a huge crowd of friends, but the ones I have are the best friends you can hope for, if all goes well we will all grow old together. Some of them are married some of the aren't.
All in all, I'm lucky, I have excellent friends and family, and lets be honest it's all about the people we have.
Back to this site
This site / blog is here to share my life with you. I have been asked if I would do photography professionally. Well yes and no, this being something I love doing, I would naturally love to do it more, but I'm not sure I would like to become a wedding photographer or a events photographer or take photos of buildings for corporate websites. I have to be honest though, I haven't tried either of these, so maybe I love it, but at this moment I love photography because I can capture the world "I" like and see. If I had to go professional one day I would expect it to be in the authoring line, maybe photo journalism. But then again I don't really want to run around taking photos of politicians. All that said, I guess you could say I haven't made up my mind and I am open to anything but will probably not go seeking for a profession in photography but will rather evaluate what comes my way.
So this site and the project blog is here for my enjoyment and hopefully for yours too. If you know of an opportunity for me, please let me know, like I said, although I might not accept everything that comes my way, I will consider it very carefully. Anyway, enjoy the site. All comments are welcome, good is preferred but I can take criticism too.
